How Nour Built a Thriving Home Bakery While Raising Her Twins

With mentorship from SMC culinary craft program, Nour turned her passion for pastry into a sustainable family enterprise.

Nour, a mother of 4-year-old twins in Beirut, always had a talent for traditional Lebanese pastries. However, turning a passion into a reliable family business required commercial knowledge and startup support.

The turning point

Nour joined the Culinary Craft & Home Catering Micro-Enterprise cohort at SMC. In our professional training kitchen, she mastered:

  1. Standardizing ingredient costs and pricing for profit
  2. Health and safety packaging standards
  3. Launching an Instagram storefront and managing weekend delivery schedules

Through a modest micro-grant sponsored by our partner network, Nour received commercial mixing equipment and initial baking inventory.

Blooming forward

Today, Nour fulfills regular catering orders for local offices and family celebrations. Her income covers her children's nursery tuition and household needs.

"I want my twins to grow up seeing that their mother never gave up, and that community made our dream possible."
